how to develop your fit mind and achieve your fitness goal

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

No matter if you are looking at losing weight, training for a race, toning up or getting in your best shape ever, you need to put energy, motivation, time and commitment into your goal. So, what’s the difference between success and failure? It is your mind through your belief system… A fitness goal does not fail or succeed, you do! So, a workout program does not fail, a diet does not fail, even a combination of both does not fail. What fails is the level of involvement and care for your self. In other words…your self-esteem. When your self-worthiness is low, then you will create a succession of events in your life that agree with this belief and most likely you will attract a situation allowing you to experience failure, disappointment and unworthiness. You will start a fitness program (most of the time for external and social motivations), and then very quickly because your internal and personal belief system kicks back in, you will make sure to fail this program. Here is a way to awaken your sense of self-responsibility and self-worthiness: The majority of our belief system is unconscious. We are first the product of parental, social and mediatic education. Who we are, is really who everyone else made us believe we are. Then, when we detach our self from this given teaching. Then, true learning flows with unprecedented life experience filled with individual and personal new beliefs. Then, this, my friend, is the time to uplift and reinvent your self in its greatest vision. Change the course of your seemingly failing weight loss and enter into the Universal matrix. You are about to learn and understand how to develop your Fit Mind. “The universal matrix” is constituted with four elements. Four laws, four basic foundations to now accept in your life in order to unfold the new version of you. 1. The Master Thought Principle 2. The Common Denominator Principle 3. The impermanency Principle 4. The Cause and Effect Principle “Beyond Fitness” is a book that explains these four principles and gives you the path to follow to achieve your fitness goal. musicians injuries ouch it hurts when i play but please dont tell me to stop

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

This article takes a look at musicians’ injuries. For an expert perspective, I interviewed Dr. Sarah Mickeler, B.Mus., D.C. Dr. Mickeler is a former professional musician and a chiropractor who concentrates on musicians’ injuries in her practice. 1) What led you to specialize in musicians’ injuries? I have a very personal connection to musician’s injuries. I had trained as a classical clarinet player and it was during my undergrad that I started to have all sorts of problems from playing too much and with poor posture. Unfortunately, I was told, as many others are, that I should just play through the pain and that maybe it would get better! Of course, it didn’t, and it eventually led to the demise of my career as a clarinetist, because I was totally unable to hold up my instrument. So, I decided to pick a new career that would help others musicians - and hopefully before they got to the point that I was at! Chiropractic appealed to me because of the whole health care paradigm that it embodies - as chiropractors, we diagnose and fix the cause, rather than masking the symptoms. 2) What is different about treating musicians than treating the general population? Often, what I tell people who don’t understand the specifics of musicians’ injuries, is that “it takes one to know one”. As a musician, it can be very difficult to explain to a physician or physiotherapist or even another chiropractor what the mechanics look like when you are playing your instrument. But when someone comes into my office and says that they play flute, or guitar, or tuba, or whatever, I know exactly what the physical component of playing their instrument involves. That is a very important first step. Secondly, not only do you have to be able to have a good understanding of what playing that instrument involves, but you have to be able to see that person play. Even if someone tells me they play violin (I automatically think: “ok, so they will be leaning their head to the left and have right shoulder problems, etc…”), I am often shocked to see how over the years of playing they have contorted themselves into a little pretzel while they play! So, on the first or second visit, all of my musicians bring in their instruments and I do a thorough playing analysis to see what it is that they’re doing right and wrong. It could be that their posture is contributing to their injury. Or maybe there’s something about the instrument that we could change; it might just need a minor adjustment in the thumb rest or a key positioning. For instance, I have very small hands and found it difficult to reach some of the alternate fingering keys on my clarinet - so I had them sawed off and re-soldered on in a different direction so I could reach them. Thirdly, it is important to recognize that there are some really common reasons for performance injuries. The most common ones are a change in repertoire, a change in the instrument (such as a new mouthpiece or something similar), a change in practice time or an upcoming recital. If we can pinpoint what it is that the performer has been doing differently lately to contribute to their injury, that helps immensely. And lastly, it is so important to realize, especially for freelance artists, that you can’t just tell them to take a muscle relaxant, and take a few weeks off. If these people took a few weeks off, they wouldn’t have a roof over their head or food on the table. While it’s occasionally absolutely imperative that a break be taken, most of the time I take a holistic approach to treating performers and change and fix what we can, within the obvious limitations of current gigs and upcoming events. 3) What’s the most common injury that you see in your office? In my office, there is a tie for the most common injury. The first is upper back/shoulder/neck pain - I lump these together because those terms can mean the same thing to a lot of people - often someone will come in and say that their shoulder hurts and point to the pain, but to me what they’re pointing to is actually their upper back or lower neck. This one is often a function of poor posture or poor practice ergonomics. If we can figure out how to improve the overall posture and ergonomic situation then this tends to resolve quickly. And the second most common injury is hand and arm pain. You would not believe how many people walk into my office with numb and tingly hands and fingers - which can be very scary if you’re the one to experience it - to find out that the problem isn’t actually their hands and fingers at all, but it’s a little further up the arm and can be quite easily treated once properly diagnosed. Or they come in with tennis elbow - but they have never held a tennis racket in their life! In my office, I call tennis and golfer’s elbow “musician’s elbow” because it is a repetitive strain injury. It is really, really common and surprisingly easy to treat. 4) What can musicians do to prevent injury? First of all, don’t be a hero! There is just no reason to practice for hours on end without a break. Always remember to take a little break for every 30 minutes that you are playing. Secondly, don’t play through pain. The pain signal is there to tell you that you are doing something wrong. Playing through it is not going to get you anywhere - other than in more pain and in worse shape down the road. Thirdly, be aware of your ergonomics. If you sit to play, does your chair fit you properly? In rehearsal, do you have to strain at all to see both the stand and the conductor? Are your arms contorted oddly in order to be able to play properly? This is not good. And lastly, seek the help of a professional who can not only help you with the injuries that you are currently dealing with, but can help you avoid future injury and optimize your overall performance. You can find out more about Dr. Sarah Mickeler and her Toronto-based chiropractic practice concentrating on musicians’ injuries at .drsarah.ca. To echo Sarah’s advice, please pay attention to any pain signals your body is sending you! Admitting you’re having a physical problem doesn’t make you any less of a musician

book poster tips

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

Posters can be a great and inexpensive way to promote your book. But don’t rush right out until you know the key items to include on your poster. The Title and Author’s name Make sure to have a bigger font than the rest of your poster to bring attention to the title and author of the book. This may be the only aspect of the poster they remember. ISBN, Where to Purchase, Price, Pages and Cover Be up front with where customers can purchase your book. Including the ISBN number can also help with searching for your book on line. Many times a customer will look for the price and become annoyed at having to search for it and how many pages the book contains. When having your book cover on your poster, you want it to be as clear and sharp as possible. The Facts Be straight forward on what your book is about. Mystery may entice a reader, but clear facts are more likely to progress to a sell if your content is what the customer is looking for. Reviews It’s a good idea to show blurbs of your favorable book reviews both customer and editorial. Optional Items A photo of yourself- Sometimes customers feel better buying with a face in mind, but this sometimes can backfire. Table of Contents- This part may become very long on your posters so perhaps partial view of the TOC would be best. Contact/Homepage- Your customers may have questions, please keep in mind that this could lead to spam. Directing others to your homepage would be a better option. Treat your e-mail as if it were your phone number. Don’t forget to make sure your poster is printed on good quality paper with rich ink. Good luck! seven things that distinguish a good sales letter is easy on the eye

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

You don’t need to be a professional copywriter or have a huge vocabulary in order to write a good sales letter. If it’s your first time to write one, all you need to exert is a bit of time and effort and you’ll sure to produce a good sales letter in no time. A Good Sales Letter is Easy on the Eye. Whether it’s an email or an actual letter, reading it must not be difficult for anyone with relatively good eyesight. Firstly, the font size must be at least 11 but no greater than 13 because anything more would take up too much space. Use special fonts only for emphasizing certain points but the main body of your content must still be written in easily understandable font like Times New Roman or Arial. Choice of colors is also important. Use dark ink for light backgrounds and vice versa. This may seem like common sense stuff, but you’d be surprised to know just how many people have continuously violated this rule! A Good Sales Letter is of Appropriate Length. There are unwritten rules regarding the appropriate length for sales letters, and they depend on factors like the number of times you’ve already corresponded with your recipient, the objectives of your sales letter, and so forth. In most cases, nothing more than a one-pager is a must if it’s your first time to contact a prospective customer. You could definitely write more if your reader has indicated an interest in receiving more news and updates from you in the future, for more details visit to .sale-trigger-generator.com but just how much will again depend on what you’re talking about and how well you know your target readers. A Good Sales Letter Does Not Beat around the Bush. It will always have a few lines dedicated to showing courtesy and appreciation towards the reader, but it will afterwards mince no words in saying what it has to say. If it has a buy-one-take-two offer in mind, for more details visit to .sales-page-rapid-fire.com the sales letter must state this directly. Time is a precious commodity, and a reader will appreciate it if you show your understanding of this concept by writing only what you have to write. A Good Sales Letter Has a Personalized Touch. Readers often like it better when the letter is directly addressed to them and most especially when they are old or existing customers already. Addressing the letter directly in their names make them feel special and appreciated. And you can validate this feeling by signing the letter at the end with your own name or the highest official in your company. A Good Sales Letter Acknowledges the Competition and Defends its Position Good sales letters are not written by people who prefer to bury their heads in the sand. These people are aware that whatever they’re offering, rival companies surely have something to counter with as well, and they don’t hesitate to acknowledge this. Rather than pretend that their readers would not be aware or interested in the counter offers of other companies, these writers address these issues directly and defend their products and services to the best of their ability. Simply put a good sales letter shows why you still have to choose the products and services it’s offering over others! A Good Sales Letter is Not All Talk! Good sales letters are not all talk. If you’ve got claims to make, you better make sure you can support them with solid facts and figures that are certified by valid and reliable authorities. A good sales letter gives readers a reason to believe in them! A Good Sales Letter Gives You the Chance to opt out and lastly, a good sales letter always offers you the chance to NOT receive other similar updates in the future. This may seem a disadvantage at the start, but it actually proves you’re confident your reader won’t opt out. It’s reverse psychology in a way! No matter how good a sales letter you have, remember that writing it will do you no good if in the end, it doesn’t fit the needs of your target market. A good sales letter will always need the things listed in here, but it has to be somewhat customized according to your target market’s preferences. What those are will, of course, depend if you’ve already correctly identified who your best customers are in the first place! .web-sales-letter-supreme.com .private-labels-empire.com

something of a disappointment half of a yellow sun by chimamanda ngozi adichie

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

It is not often that a novel comes to hand that has been prized, praised and pre-inflated. Half of a Yellow Sun was in that category when I opened it and began to read. And I was captivated immediately. I read the first hundred pages at a pace, delighting in the ease with which the Chimanada Ngozi Adichie used language to draw me into the middle-class clique centred on the University of Nsukka which provides the core characters of her book. Their infidelities, their inconsistencies, their desire, despite the servants, for equality and freedom are symptomatic of their time. The dissimilar twin sisters, Olanna and Kainene, one imagines will provide a vehicle for parallel and different lives, providing contrast and metaphor, and I eagerly awaited their stories to unfold. The book’s sections alternate between the early and late 1960s, the latter period in Nigeria, of course, being the Biafran War. And, yes, the characters live through the war, and their lives and their natures, and along with them their country, are transformed by it. Perhaps even their own identity is redrawn, especially once the promise of a recognised nationality is promised and then denied. Eventually there are vivid scenes of the war’s brutality, its double standards, its compromises, its cynicism, its racism and its starvation. The images are graphic and vivid, unforgettable even, and the ability of war to undermine utterly and profoundly any assumption that an individual might harbour about an imagined future is movingly portrayed. So why then was I so disappointed with the book? All I can offer, I’m afraid, is that eventually I found it shallow. Its apparent concentration on the domestic lives of the characters undermined their credibility as members of an intellectual elite and rendered them two (or perhaps even one) dimensional. Chimanada Ngozi Adichie carefully tells us that Odenigbo is a mathematician and in love with his subject. He covets his personal library, which he loses in the war and then has replaced by a benefactor. But in my experience, mathematicians are passionate people

how to achieve success by writing articles

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

In order to build a successful online business, you need traffic. Traffic is the lifeblood of everything on the Internet. There are many ways to generate traffic but my preferred method is by writing articles. Articles provide an advantage in that they continue bringing in traffic for months after they’ve been written. Advertising, forum posts, and Pay Per Click programs only provide traffic for a day or two after they are run. Another reason I like writing articles is that it is FREE! The key to generating traffic writing articles is consistency. You have to write articles every day if you want to be successful. In fact, to be really successful, you should write more than one article daily. I write three of them each day. So if you would like to make a full time income from your Internet business, you should consider writing multiple articles each day. The other thing to consider in order to achieve success by writing articles is who to submit them to. I find that it works well to submit each article to the largest twenty-five article directory sites. These directories are already getting traffic so my articles get plenty of page views on these sites. And, the more page views my articles get, the more traffic I generate. Submitting to these largest sites also provides me with plenty of back links to my sites. These back links are important in the eyes of the search engines. The more back links you have, the higher your sites will rank in Internet searches. And again, a higher rank in search results will produce even more traffic. So if you want to achieve success online, consider writing articles every day. You will see a steady increase in your traffic flow, and as traffic increases, so will your online income. 5 things to consider when publishing a newsletter

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Providing a newsletter for your opt-in list subscribers provides many benefits in terms of driving traffic into your site as well as boosting the sales and profits of your site and company. This is a marketing ploy that will not hugely dent your marketing budget and will not also require many man-hours in developing this project. With a newsletter, you can inform the public about your company and products as well as services. You can keep them posted and updated about what’s going-on with your company as well as many of your promotions and offerings. With these, you keep on reminding your subscribers that you are still here and is willing to offer them good deals and services. Newsletters also allow you to impress your subscribers. It can show your expertise and knowledge about the topic at hand and the many benefits you can offer them. When you impress people, they will become potential customers and another great thing is that they can recommend you to their friends, colleagues and family. All of them could very well be customers in the future. If you do not have a newsletter or publishing one for your site, then you may have to consider about researching and be well informed on how to publish one. It is not as easy as it seems but if and when you get the right idea and process, it will be smooth sailing from there on. Try to take the time to learn what you need to learn and get that newsletter ready and good to attract subscribers to your newsletter as well as traffic to your site. In the next few paragraphs, I will provide you with some things to reflect on when you decide to start your own newsletter for your site. Here are five things to consider when publishing a newsletter. 1) Make sure that the content of your newsletter pertains to and closely associated with your business or the theme of your site. Do not dwell too far on what could be regarded as your field of expertise. You have started a site and your theme for your site will always be something you are knowledgeable about. For example; if you have a site that sells auto car parts, your newsletter must contain articles or content like photos that pertain to cars, auto parts and such. You may also include content about your company and your staff. Remember that visitors of a certain site are there because they are interested in what the site has to offer. If they sign up for an opt-in list or for a newsletter this means that they want to be updated for that certain theme or subject. Be sure that when you publish your newsletter you are providing for the need of the subscriber as well as their interests. 2) Ensure that you have well written, information riddled and content rich articles. You articles will be the body of your newsletter and that they should be able to excite your readers as well as provide information. Articles should be well written and checked for errors such as spelling and grammatical errors for it to look professional and believable. The trust of your client to you and newsletter is at stake here. 3) Fact-check your articles. Make sure that you provide true facts and figures so that your reputation as an expert and knowledgeable in that field is not questioned. If you lose the trust of your subscribers these may persuade them to unsubscribe to your newsletter. You will lose many potential sales this way. 4) Provide fresh and new articles that can provide new information to your subscribers. If you publish stale and old news in your newsletter, there is a tendency that people or your subscribers already have read and known about them. This will lose their interest in your newsletter and they wont get to read what is most important, your ads. They may not open or read any of your succeeding newsletters losing your intention in writing and publishing newsletters, to get them to visit your site and make a purchase. 5) Never use copyrighted materials such as photos and articles. This is outright plagiarism, you may get into a lot of trouble for this. You can lose your business and get sued over copyright infringement. If you do not have the time to write your own articles, there are many willing and able professional article writers that can do it for you for a reasonable fee. All your investment in writing and publishing articles will be well worth it when you see your list build up and your traffic increasing. how to churn out articles without sacrificing quality

Monday, March 24th, 2008

One of the commonest complaints website content writers have is that they do not have enough time to give good quality in their articles. Come to think about it, this is not an unjustified complaint at all. Article writers ordinarily have to provide a huge number of articles within a deadline, and quite often they may even be ignorant of the subject they are going to write on. So, it becomes quite a chore
