five nofail fundraising and grant writing tips

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Non-profit organizations need funding for a variety of reasons, from hosting an event to providing services to paying staff salaries, just like their for-profit counterparts. The bigger organizations can afford to employ a Director of Development and fundraising staff, but what about the grassroots guys? Usually, their President wears all of the hats, often relying on volunteers to fill in the gaps. And fundraising is often the least favorite role. Here are my favorite five tips for raising funds quickly and painlessly. 1. Hire a freelance grant writer. Ok, I have to admit that I am a freelance grant writer, but ask any of my clients

Introduction: How do you get back your smooth skin and get rid of cellulite? Well most women who have cellulite can look into the mirror and plainly see its development. If however you are unsure, the most common way to determine if your have cellulite is to squeeze the skin around the upper thigh area. If you notice lots of dimples under the skin, welcome to the clu friend… Cause: Cellulite is caused by a change in the way fat is stored beneath the skin. Put simply, the fat cells become less elasticised and therefore group closer together. This process causes the skin to ever-so-slightly sag, giving us that horrible orange-peel look we all hate. Diet and Exercise: You may not like this but diet and exercise play a large part in how bad your cellulite actually is. This is not an exact science mind you because cellulite creams are not your basic stand alone product. For most women the use of these creams has shown great promise in the infected area. However, you need to understand that most anti cellulite creams are designed to treat the appearance of cellulite on the skin and not the underlying problem of the cellulite itself. Therefore, by incorporating a cellulite cream into your daily skin care routine you will soon start to see improvements to the effected areas. using sales letter for marketing and promotion

Monday, December 28th, 2009

Your product or service may be the best of its kind, but it will not sell without the proper marketing and promotion strategies. Whether you are selling statement t-shirts, luxury cars, or discount tickets for a vacation to Europe, you will need to get word out on your product and service so that you can stand out in the global market. You may wish to hand out pamphlets if you are on a strict budget, or you may splurge on a television commercial to reach out to as wide an audience as possible. Both marketing methods, however, can be impersonal, not to mention annoying, to customers who want a product or service that caters exclusively to their needs. One marketing technique you may want to explore is the sales letter. A sales letter is simply a letter promoting your product or service, discounts on your newest offerings, or even a share in your company. A sales letter, however, is more personal, as it addresses individual members of your prospective market. For more details visit to .sale-trigger-generator.com .This special trait of sales letters makes them difficult to write. Many of your prospective customers will have been saturated with hard sell, mass marketing methods. A sales letter, if overdone, can be irritating; if underdone, it can be ignored. Before you sit down and write your letter, take note of the following characteristics of a sales letter, and heed the tips on basic sales letter writing. Sales letters, like any other letters, begin with a salutation to the recipient. The sales letter, however, will address a customer directly. How do you obtain the names and addresses of your recipients, and how can you catch their attention? • You will need to identify the market of your product or service. Is your product something that will appeal to teens or adults? Who can afford it? Who might need it the most? If you know who exactly your market is, you will know who you should address your letters to. You may be tempted, however, to simply pick up the nearest phone book and select names at random. This method, derogatively referred to as “shotgun sending,” is counterproductive, and can waste your time and money. Shotgun sending, moreover, will make you appear even more careless, as you seem not to care about what your customers think and need. A good method to narrow your market down is to do a search of your customers online. There are directories available for free on the Internet, although you must be sure that the online merchant is legal, and has gathered the names and addresses of the people in the directory with their consent. For instance, if you are selling textbooks on physics, you may want to search for directories of college professors, high school teachers, or even alumni of schools who might want to donate books to their alma mater. • Make your letter attractive. If you are sending the sales letter through snail mail, you can have a colored envelope with an eye-catching slogan or catchphrase on the front. Such sentences as “Do you want to know how to get great discounts on your grocery shopping?” or “Know how to invest your money and get great returns” can make prospective customers open the envelope. Making an email attractive can be challenging. Simply writing an attractive phrase in the subject line can sometimes land your email in the spam folder, or worse, in the trash. To know more logon to .killer-sales-letters.com .If you must send a sales letter through email, make your subject line simple, but your contents attractive. Go easy on the graphics; heavy emails can take longer to load, and you may end up annoying rather than attracting the recipient. • The best sales letters are worded simply, but with force enough to jump out at the reader. How can a sales letter be forceful? It should address the reader directly, and must clearly show how the marketed product or service can directly benefit the reader. The best sales letters are not even cute or clever. They are simply convincing and innovative. For instance, if you are selling car parts, you can include a section on the top ten tips for proper car care. A sales letter should make people read, and then purchase your product or service. If you are simple but convincing, you will certainly widen your market base and reach out to new customers. All you need to do is know your market and your strengths, and you can find positive responses to your sales letter before long.

what is a resume why do i need one and other mindless questions

Sunday, December 27th, 2009

I know that some of this so basic that it will appear to some of you as third grade curriculum. To others who may not have been in the work force for awhile it will be necessary reading. So with that said let’s begin. What exactly is a resume and the purpose? Simply put a resume is a review of your work history. This article is about “How To Write a Resume”. If you have never written one then you need to do it right. My dad always told me, “you only have one chance to make a good first impression.” If you have a long work history going back 20+ years it’s not necessary to review your whole life. Just the last four to five jobs you have held, the position, responsibilities, acknowledgments etc. It should be well written (we will show you how to do that further down). The purpose

celebrity tattoos megan fox

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

The beautiful Transformers star is a avid tattoo lover and has several of her own. A lot of people may not understand her tattoos and I’ve read a lot of people think they are tacky. But people don’t get tattoos for other people they get them for themselves and I’m sure every tattoo that Megan has, has a special meaning to her. Megan tattoos include: A portrait of Marilyn Monroe on her right forearm, star and crescent moon on her right leg, symbol for strength on the back of her neck, a Shakespeare quote on her back, some tribal symbols, and a “Brian” on her stomach, as well as a poem she wrote that’s on her ribcage. Megan does have some regrets about one of her tattoos. “She regrets the “tribal” tat. She said, “The guy was smoking weed while he tattooed me and he didn’t do it correctly. Now it’s nothing and I’m gonna get it removed. I was told he was a really amazing tattoo artist but he wasn’t on his game that night. He was distracted.” This is what Megan had to say about getting tattoos in general. “Every time I get a tattoo, it’s a little f-you to anyone who tells me not to. It’s weird to be part of Hollywood, which tries to control every aspect of people, from what they say to the color of their hair. And I like the way getting a tattoo feels. If I’m depressed, it’s nice to get one and deal with the pain. I have one all the way down to my ribs. It hurt, but it felt good

article writing more traffic and more sales for business

Friday, December 25th, 2009

Article writing is one of the best ways to get more traffic and more sales for your business. Unfortunately, many writers who use articles to promote their businesses do it wrong, and then they wonder why it doesn’t work. This article includes several tips you can use to get more traffic and sales from your articles. Writing articles is one of the most effective ways to promote your business regardless of whether you promote affiliate programs, MLM, or your own products and services. As an article directory owner, and someone who uses articles to promote my business, there are several mistakes I see article writers make that sabotage their articles. Below are several mistakes article writers make, and how you can correct them so you get more traffic and more sales from your articles. 1. Weak Titles Your title should effectively describe what your article is about. Many writers don’t take the time to craft titles that get results. It may be laziness or simply a lack of understanding in how to write good titles. If you want readers to read your article and click through your resource box, you need to craft an effective title. To do this, you need to treat your title like a headline. Write it as if you are writing a headline. You can search article directories to get ideas. You can also use keyword tools to help you find the right keywords to craft your article titles. Using the right keywords will help your article rank higher. 2. Misplaced Affiliate Links Most article directories, including mine, won’t accept articles with affiliate links in the body. Sites like Ezine Articles, doesn’t accept article with affiliate links in the resource box. If you must use affiliate links in your articles, better buy a domain and point toward your resource. 3. Long Winded Resource Boxes I have children. Now I have grandchildren. I don’t have any pets, but one day I may just buy a couple of Rottweilers as pets because I love them. Are you bored yet? Although you may find these facts about your life interesting, readers don’t. When I read a resource box about a 34 year old car enthusiast who owns her own auto parts shop, I yawn and then click away. The bottom line is: readers don’t care about the details of your life. They want to know what you have to offer, and what you offer in your resource box had better be the next logical step in your article. Your article gives readers a taste; your resource box had better contain the next course. If it doesn’t, readers will click away and you’ve lost them. 4. Unrelated Resource Boxes Maybe you’ve written a great article. You’ve gotten the reader to read it all because you had an intriguing title and great information that makes your reader wants to click through. Now it’s time to deliver. If your article is about gardening, but your resource box is all about the next big thing in internet marketing, kiss your reader goodbye. Readers want information. Your resource box should tell them where to go to get more information. If it doesn’t, you’ve wasted your time and alienated your reader. If you’re making these mistakes in your article writing, they’re easy to correct. Correct these mistakes and you’ll draw your readers in and get them to click through to your site. Isn’t that what good article writing is really all about?

writing a comedy screenplay

Thursday, December 24th, 2009

Isn’t it funny how the court jester has become the superhero of the entertainment world. Yes, the comedian, the funny man, has surpassed the movie star or rock musician in the popularity league. Think of the likes of John Cleese, Steve Martin or Woody Allen and you are seeing writer/actors that people aspire to be. A far cry from the local fool or village idiot. So what drives people to comedy? Many comedians have told of how, as youngsters, they used comedy to defuse potentially violent encounters. But surely not all comedy geniuses sprang from the ranks of the bullied. To my mind the comedy impulse operates on a much simpler basis, the need to be liked. We court popularity by giving people the safe, non-addictive, drug of laughter. But that’s not what this article is about, it’s about writing comedy screenplays, which is a much harder proposition than writing gags. You’ll note that the three stalwarts named above gained their greatest honours with movies. They may have started out as gag writers, but ultimately the glittering prizes only come via the silver screen. Having said that I would encourage any novice screenwriter contemplating a screenplay to master the short form first. The relationship between a gag or joke and a full length screenplay is a strange one. I personally like the Monty Python methodology of stringing sketches along a comedic plotline, but a character telling a joke does not make your movie a comedy. The comedy must from the start be in your basic plot. Around your daft situation your characters can become involved in humorous situations and say funny things, as long as they are moving the plot forward. A useful rule of thumb which I learned when writing sit-coms was that there were only three reasons for a line of dialogue to be in a comedy script. One, to move the plot forward; two, the set up line for a joke; and three, the punchline to a joke. Everything else is waffle and should be stripped out. It is possible to take a favourite joke and mould it into your character’s plotline, but you must ensure that the joints don’t show. Does the situation fit in with the rest of the narrative? Would your character utter that punchline? Comedy is not a one-size fits all scenario. Take for instance this joke

pursue your dreams

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

When your life is moving so fast, it may be difficult to pursue your dreams. Slow down, take a breath and get back to focusing on your dreams. We all have dreams that we needed to put on hold for the right time. Now is your time. Trust me on this- there is no better time than now to take the steps to make your dreams come true. Here are two stories of two little girl and boy who made their dreams a reality. A sweatshop worker, sewing pants and blouses for a living, dreamt of becoming an attorney. She never knew an attorney and did not even know what she had to do. Before graduating from high school, she asked her counselor for advice. The counselor told her to major in Political Science and apply for law school. Althought she struggled through college, she continued to law school. When she graduated from law school, she passed both New York and New Jesery bar examinations. A young man who never had any computer knowledge or college education wanted to help Chinese restaurants become more visible in the United States. He started to read up on the various marketing opportunities on the internet. He thought long and hard to come up with a website that would list all the Chinese restaurants in the United States and post their menus online for everyone to view. Now the website is up at .chinesetakeoutmenu.com, the most comprehensive list of Chinese restaurants and take-out menus. The key to reaching your dreams is to slow down. The famous saying that “slow is fast and fast is slow” is so very true. Enjoy your journey to fulfilling your dreams today.

secrets of the writers trade basic elements of a strong publishing platform

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

As nonfiction book writers, we all need to develop a healthy, ongoing relationship with our readers. This doesn’t mean we engage in a push-push-push of our precious ideas upon a bunch of paying consumers. It means we establish a meaningful exchange with our readers based on value and purpose. We are the servants of our natural audience. Who are they? What do they need? In what forums
